West Virginia

Being so close to Pennsylvania, New Jersey and the East Coast betting boom, it was no surprise that West Virginia allowed legal sports betting relatively quickly after the repeal of PASPA in 2018.
However, the legislation has been somewhat stop-start with a lot of issues regarding licensing and an embarrassing u-turn on betting on political markets hampering progress in the Mountain State. However, as of 2020 there is now remote registration for both online sports and casino players and residents of West Virginia no longer have to drive miles in order to make their bets.
