South Dakota legalized casino gambling in 1989 and now has a total of 33 casinos within the state lines, 22 of which are commercially run properties and 11 which are run by Indian Tribes.
There are no sports betting options at any of the properties though, with no discussions to take place on increase the gambling options for those in Deadwood.
The fact that the casino sector has grown so rapidly does suggest that the law makers have recognized the economic potential of gambling and so we wouldn’t be surprised if South Dakota made a rapid move up the Wedge Index after passing some sports betting bills.
